Temple Square

On Saturday I had the chance to go to Temple Square for the Relief Society Broadcast. It was super cool. I went with my friend Rachel and her friend Tiffany. We went to see the Joseph Smith Movie. Watching it made me realize all of the sacrifices that not only Joseph made, but his family. I love it because when he goes to the Scared Grove to pray he looks like a 14 year old boy. It also portrays Joseph as a really person, but with the power of God he did AMAZING things. I also loved just talking to the Sister Missionaries. They are so amazing. I met one from Nepal. She is only the third missionary from Nepal. She told me that after joining the Church she was kick out of her home and had to move from house to house. But she said that she wouldn't trade her life for anything. She loves the gospel and would do anything for it. The Salt Lake Temple always amazes me. The early Saint put some much into it despite already enduring so much. The workmanship is amazing.

Elder Dungan!!!

Today I got the opportunity to take my cousin Austin to the MTC. He is going to serve the people of Brussels, Belgium, French Speaking. I super excited for him. This morning we spent time walking around campus together. We decided that we are kind of like twin cousins. We are a month apart and our parents are twins. He is one of my best friends. Every time we get together we just pick up were we left off. He is awesome. I'm kind of sad because I won't see him for 3 1/2 years. I know that he is going to make an awesome missionary!!!
Going to the MTC made me super excited to serve a mission. I can't wait to serve the Lord 24/7. Just thinking about it make me happy. The gospel just make me happy! I'm don't know a ton but I know that I want to share my happiness with the whole wide world! I'm in the process of preparing right now. I'm attending a Mission Prep class at Church on Sunday. I'm also studying Preach My Gospel everyday. I wish that I could go and serve now!

19 on 19!

Today was my 19th birthday. I had so much fun!!! My roommates decorated the apartment. Everyone sang to me in my RMYL class. After I school I came home and had to finish up some stuff. One apartment of girls got me some balloons and some super cute earrings. I got so many birthday wishes. I went out to dinner with my parents, who are in town for the BYU Alumni Conference. After dinner, My Parents, my friend Amanda, and I went to the World of Dance concert. Then we head off to Walmart to get some stuff that I needed. As a present my parents got me a camera case, an iTalk (I can't wait to use it on my first interview), and some other cool new camera accessories. I arrived home to an apartment full of my roommates friend who all wished me a Happy Birthday. All of the girls in my building also made me super cute card and some yummy cookies! Spencer and Renee came over to sing to me. Later on Amy, Sam, BJ, Oliver and Spencer came over with a Birthday Cake and sang to me. I ended up hanging out with a bunch of people on the Basketball court. We ate Ice Cream and they sang to me again. This time I almost set my hair on fire. Now that I'm completely full of sugar and well wishes, I realize that I have some of the best friends/family anyone could ask for. THANKS FOR ALL OF THE LOVE!!!

Its a Pirate's Life for Me!

For as long as I can remember I've been obsessed with pirates. They are so cool. While, I don't condone the looting and plundering of innocent people, in a heartbeat I would give up my life and go be a Elizabeth Swan. Pirates don't have a care in the world. They are able to spend the having adventures and fun, plus they have super cool skills. Won't be super awesome if I knew how to sword fight? Plus I would get to wear super cool jewelry. I would be able to see the World. What could get any better then spending 24/7 on the water? Not to mention the awesome shape that I would get in.

I would want to make a couple adjustment to the traditional pirate. First of all we would only do go
od, kinda of like the Peter Pan's of the sea. We would find the buried treasure using GPS and metal detectors. After finding it, I would use the money to build schools and homes in Hati. The ship would have to be decked out in all the newest gear including a Wii and an awesome sound system for the impromptu dance party. Also I would need a Chief to create the yummiest food. We wouldn't fly black sails with skulls on them, they would be pink and some would be Tye-dyed. There would be time for arts and crafts, exceptionally boondoggle. A pool is a must to work on my tan. And last of all I would need my Family and Friends with me to share in the adventure!

New School Year, New Job, New Major?

This is year is all about fresh starts. My two really good friends are both away on study aboard, all the boys from my freshmen year are gone on missions, and still other friends are scattered through out Provo. I feel like I'm a freshman, starting from the beginning. Most of it has to do with my new job, an RA in Wyview. It is my first job that has nothing to do with the water. I feel like I have no idea how to do anything. Most of my group is returning RAs with a ton of experience. My girls are AWESOME! There haven't been any big issues beside noise. Some of the hard things include: dealing with Honor Code Issues, fitting in as both a RA and friends, being the same age as the girls, and not living with my friends. For the most part I do really enjoy it. It’s so nice to have predictable hours and my own room! I also love just talking to my girls. It really exciting to see them do things and learn.

So far this semester I seem to like all of my classes.
Here the schedule:
Communications 101: Mass Communications in Society
Communications 211: News Writing
Communications 230: Intro to Adverting
RMYL 301: Family Recreation
REL c 342: Church History from 1845-1900
ST DEV 452: RA Class

I'm really excited about my Adverting class. We are going to put together a whole campaign. Also we are required to keep an Ad file. Every point we learn in class we have to find an Ad to support it. I love doing projects in class. I love doing research and watching everything come together. 211 is kind of boring, but I'm excited to do interviews. For my birthday my Dad got me a recorder and a reporter's notepad. Now when I'm working on an article I'll feel legit. Comms 101 is dry, but my group seems really fun. My favorite class so far has been RMLY 301. Everything in the class is so applicable to my life. The class is based off the Family: A Proclamation to the World. Its super cool how Sis. Johnson incorporates the Gospel with contemporary thinking about Families and recreations. On Fridays we just play games!

I'm thinking about changing my major from Advertising, emphasizing in Design to Recreation Management, emphasizing in Youth Leadership. First of all if I get into the Advertising program, but then don't get accepted into the Creative track, I have no desire to spend the rest of my life buying media time. Second, I love kids. This summer I had the opportunity to spend the summer teaching kids how to swim all summer. I love watching kids learn. I also when to Girls Camp as a Counselor. It was so fun! The camp director, Del said that I had a nature knack for what I was doing and I LOVED IT!!! During High School I worked with our 5th grade camp program and had a blast. Third, I want to do something that leaves an impact on the world. I feel that my working with Youth that I can give them a foundation that will effect future generations. Advertising just doesn't leave a positive impact on the world. I never want to spend a day in my life sitting in an office staring at a computer screen.

Oh How I Miss Summer!

This summer was filled with work and fun. I went home to my old job at the TCCIP as a Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor. I was started teaching for the Troy School District. I fell in LOVE with teaching swim lessons. Every day I watched my kids improve and grow. It was really neat. I as called as the Beehive Adviser in my ward. It was a TON of fun. I got to work with my sister and all of her friends. They taught me some much in the four months I was home. During June I had the opportunity to go to Girls Camp with all the girls in my family. I spend all day doing what I love: Lifeguarding, Teaching Swimming Lessons, Kayaking, Canoeing and being in the sun. Later in July my whole family went out to California for three weeks. We spent time in Tahoe, San Francisco, the Beach, and ton of other places. It was so fun to spend 24/7 with all my cousins. While in San Francisco I saw a car accident and was the first on the scene. My adrenaline was pumping and all my skill just came to me. I was so glad for all my training. In Tahoe we spent time at a ton of cool beaches. We also went cliff jumping. My four favorites things where going to Santa Cruz, Surprising Kyle Smith at his mission farewell, YSA Dance with Austin and Kayci, and In-N-Out with Dad and Uncle Johnny!
